Just My Type!

The first typewriter I ever typed on looked very much like this one! It was an amazingly intricate machine that I found totally fascinating.  I loved everything about it from the clacking of the keys to the dinging of the bell. I hated to leave it behind when I headed off to college with my brand new Smith Corona Electric!  And so I love this fabulously detailed image from  Established Elegance! I snipped it out, popped it up and "typed" Boooooooo!

I followed the Freshly Made Sketch below and will also be submitting this to Stampin' Royalty's Halloween challenge.

  2. I too typed on a machine very much like this one and went on the electric Smith-Corona. If I remember correctly the old standard type was an underwood and is what we learned on in high school, I managed 120 words per minute. Telling my age aren't I!
Love this card, the card and your post brings back fond memories.

  4. Wow, we're all kinda telling our age since a lot of us learned to type on this wonderful old relic. I too loved the sound of the bell when you'd "throw the carriage" (at least that's what we always said! Love your card!

  7. Cute as always! And do I ever remember those old typewriters! I wished I would have saved ours...but I was so excited to get a new electric that I think we pitched the old one! Oh how horrible to have done that! And Nancy's comment reminded me of the bell...I LOVED it!

  8. I love this - totally creative. I also learned to type on something like that. My Mom had saved hers and we used to plunk away on it at home when I was a kid. Sometimes two keys would get stuck together at the top. Thanks for sharing such an original idea!

  9. Linda, This is really too clever. I don't know how you do it every time. Such a great concept and perfect execution. LOVE IT!

Remember having to push so hard on those typewriter keys to make them work - then hit the lever to return - ding! - Look at us know with our fancy computers:)

  11. I started on one of those typewriters, too! The keys were so hard to push all the way down. And no 'backspace' key. Yikes! Great card and fun memories! TFS!

  14. My typewriter was green and I used to like to press the keys really fast and get them all jammed up! I have to say that using a typewriter on a Halloween card is truly inspired. That's a perfect image to show off that elongated boo!
