Lovin' this chalkboard effect! My love affair with chalkboards began long ago when my dad hung one in our garage. School was in session! Our entire basement was also fair game for chalk as we outlined games on the floor and wrote messages on the walls. My mother worked in a hospital and sometimes worked a few hours over the weekend. I'd tag along and "work" in an adjoining classroom where there was a fabulous chalkboard with big fat white chalk. Standing alongside that board was a real skeleton, all labeled and wired together. He was a well behaved student but had trouble holding the chalk so I had to guide his hand when he wrote. Sometimes I think back and wonder who that guy was in real life. He probably never thought he would live on to educate nurses and play school with a 7 year old on Saturday mornings!
I flipped Allisa's wonderfully versatile sketch on its side this week at Freshly Made Sketches.
Linda love your chalkboard against the cheery background DSP. This is such a cute card and love your story too! hugs.
ReplyDeleteI too had a love affair with a chalkboard. I got one for Christmas one year and "played" school in my cellar for hours on end with my imaginary students!
ReplyDeleteI love your combo of chalkboard and bright colors. This card practically jumps off the screen!
I also loved chalk boards! My mom had one she let me use when I was little! No wonder you became a teacher!!! Did you use white ink for that? It's fabulous! Great colours!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love the way the balloons just peek over the top of the card.

ReplyDeleteGreat memories. I had a friend who had an entire school room in her house. Old desks with ink wells and everything. We loved playing school! I really liked the balloons you fussy cut and had flying off the card. A wonderful birthday card!
ReplyDeleteLove the chalkboard effect Linda! You did an amazing job - I love how the balloons are floating off the top of your card!
