Oh Happy Day - FMS211

Yesterday was one of those "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" kind of days.  It started with a furnace that wouldn't turn on and ended in a doctor's office with my mother.  (And yes the PA in the doctor's office really did ask if we were sisters......my mom is 90!!) By the time everything was squared away I was ready to call it a day.  But my daughter was going on a business trip so I headed to her house to watch Emma overnight.  After she left I asked Emma "What shall we have for dinner?"  Her answer?  "Let's have Cheerios and ice cream Amma!"  So we put on our pj's and did just that.  Best. Dinner. Ever.  And just like that the day turned completely around........

I love how the squiggle from Snuggles and Smooches looks like skating circles!  Perfect with the sweet skater from Talented Trio......hmmmm wonder if she was talented enough to carve out that sentiment as well!

My oh so talented friend (who could probably carve a sentiment on ice if she wanted to) Karren Johnson has a great sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

  2. What an awesome card! Love the squiggly lines left by her skates and the little snowflakes are the prefect touch. Great sentiment, fantastic design! Mmmm, Cheerios and ice cream for dinner sounds perfect...but make mine Chocolate Cheerios. I'll be right over. ;)

  3. Best dinner ever indeed Linda, leave it to our grandchildren to lift our spirits, Cheerios and Ice Cream sound just right to me.
Your card is so sweet, I love the beautiful colored skater, the squiggle from Snuggles and Smooches look like the beautiful figures Ice Skaters leave on the ice after their performances. Love the added sequence bling, looks just perfect for your little skating scene.
Thank you for sharing, I'll be giving this sketch a try.
    Hugs,
    Maria Rodriguez.

  5. Linda, this is such a happy card and lifted my spirits today! I love your "Emma" stories and this one was super special. Even though I don't have a grandchild (yet) to share Cheerios and Ice Cream for dinner, I am putting it on my menu this week! Hope your Mom is doing better, too.

  6. Linda this is so adorable! I love your description and I agree with all your observations too.
I also have breakfast for dinner many times... so I agree with Emma. Good choice and even better when it was spent with Amma! Hgus

  7. Loved your card and the coloring is beautiful. Glad you day ended well after all the trauma earlier. My husband and I share making dinner. Tomorrow is my night to "cook". Do you think he'll understand if I tell him my menu is a bit different than usual and is Cheerios and ice cream. Keep in mind that he's not really a cereal person. lol What a great way to bond with your granddaughter.

  10. This is such a fun card and I just love how you've colored your girl - she looks fabulous! I'm glad your day got better, too! BTW, I don't much like ice so there probably won't be any sentiment-carving in the near future :)

  15. Well look at this ice-skating beauty. That's you right? I love that it looks like she, I mean you, scratched those circles in the ice. And I think that Cheerios and ice cream is a fine dinner. Grains and dairy are an important part of our diet, after all.
