Fusion: Chalkboard Baking

I took my cue from the picture this week at Fusion.....love that chalkboard look!  I used Distress Oxide inks for the background and stamped images in black.  A stamping friend let me borrow an old stamp set with baking images but she had no idea where it came from......no label on the container. Anyway the sugary images matched perfectly with a sentiment from Fresh and Fruity by Sunny Studio.

I could have taken my cue from the bright colors in this photo as well.

It is finally warm enough to plant the geraniums in the flower boxes.  Hopefully we had our last freeze this past week. Miss E has potted her flowers and is headed to the playhouse in the back yard to put them in her window boxes!

It is fun to play at Fusion - use the picture, use the sketch or both!

  1. Hi Linda:

Lovely card and I would love to know how you created the watercolor effect on the background? I know you said you used inks, but can you describe your technique.

  2. Hi Jan......I just tapped a large clear block with different colored distress ink pads then spritzed the block with a bit of water. Then I pressed my card stock on the block and rubbed gently. I think I did it twice to fill in some holes...easy. Then I let it dry and cropped the paper. Hope that helps!

  6. This is such a great take on the photo, Linda! Your distress oxide background looks fabulous! And who wouldn't want to do some gardening if it meant driving round in a hot pink vehicle :)

  9. What a cool background! The baking images seem to be floating around a-la zero gravity and they make your background look kind of cosmic to me!
