The Creative Process......FMS387

I can't ever think of a time when I have created a card with no errors and put it all together perfectly first time through.  I usually stamp a few images, try a few color combos and experiment with paper and borders.  A card finally emerges with all the the "rejected" images and pieces all over my desk.  Honestly I usually just sweep them all into the trash - I broke that habit of keeping scraps "just in case" a few years ago. But once in a while fortune smiles and I can piece together a second card from the scraps on my desk.  And that's just what happened yesterday - a super clean version of this card seemed to magically appear in the rubble....so I went with it!  I love when that happens!

I love Cecile's sweet sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches! Hope you join us!

Stamp Set:  Tropical Chic

  1. So pretty! What a great design...love that you used the 'leftovers' to make it. :) Perfect colors and great way to use that sketch!

  2. As often is the case in my own studio, I like phase two better! In this case that's really saying something, because the first is fab-o!
Linda, you may want to mend that broken habit... xx

  3. Love this card, Linda!!! I may keep some bits and pieces but my "neatness" conspires against me trying to use them since out of sight is also out of mind, lol. But want I wanted to mention is that the base image brings you to mind that might not be readily apparent... doesn't it remind you of a stack of books??? Hugs, dear Pal!

  4. Love both, but the one with the patterned paper is fabulous! It's always amazing to me how a small change can make a big difference. ♥

  6. Love both cards Linda! I also love that you have a scrap pile! So do I!! Sometimes I think the scrap pile is bigger than the completed pile!! I love Tropical Chic and it always reminds me of a warm breeze, white sandy beaches and gorgeous water!!!

  7. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who uses the brute force method of card creation (and who throws out the byproducts!!) It does make the rare "magical" card extra special, doesn't it? LOVE what you found!!

  8. I am with you 100% on the creative process...although I do save my ooops and toss them in a bag to give to my customers, LOL! They put them to good use! This is a fun tropical creation and I like how you interpreted it! :D

  13. It's exactly the same for me! Achieving one card asks me so many unsuccessful attempts! Actually, your many tries turned into two amazing clean cards! Love the 2 of them so much!
