The Punny Valentine Challenge at The Paper Players this week makes me smile so I decided to get a head start on some Valentines. Remember when we had to memorize this sentence to learn the planets?
My very educated mother just served us nine pickles.
And I just can't seem to throw Pluto out of the group!
I used the sketch at Cas(e) this Sketch for my design.
.
Stamps: Dream Big (Hero Arts)
Ink: Black, Copics
Paper: Whisper White, Black, Brushed Silver, Hero Arts Patterned, Red Glitter
Cute card! The colors are just perfect and I love the clean design. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! Great take on the sketch!
ReplyDeleteFun card Linda and a sweet trip down memory lane. Our teachers used My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Us Nine Planets! At least it was still "Mother" doing the educating.
ReplyDeleteA fun pun, and a darling rendition of our Sketch, Linda!
ReplyDeleteYou're never going to believe it... I've NEVER known this fabulous way to remember the planets... but you can bet I'll share it with my grandkids!
=]
What an awesome pun! I love this card...thanks for playing along with us at The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard that before! I'm familiar with HOMES for the great lakes and King Philip Came Over From Germany Stoned for taxonomy so I'll be adding this to my trivia repertoire for sure! And your card is great. I love the out-of-this-world theme!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard that either, but then I don't remember learning about the planets at all. Maybe they weren't discovered when I was at school - yes I'm that old :) Anyway, gorgeous card and such a great use of the image, which I have sitting unused in my collection...
ReplyDeleteWell, the card/image is wonderful, but I HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT MNEMONIC BEFORE!!! Wowza! You are a treasure trove of information! I love those kinds of things and I will have to keep this one around because I can never remember the order of the planets! Have you ever heard "If Victor's Xrays look clear, don't medicate"? That's one I refer to often for the value of the Roman numerals! Have a great weekend! Oh, and thanks for playing with our PP challenge, too!
ReplyDeleteHi, Linda! Oh my gosh, your card is out of this world! I love the bouquet of planets, and the black strip made perfect use of the sketch. And I never heard that phrase before either! Thanks for teaching me something new, and thanks for playing along with my challenge this week at The Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteFabulous, fabulous card, LInda. What's not to love, from the glorious stamped planet balloons, that I've never seen before, to the great pun and the gorgeous paper that somehow looks like it's a pathway of stars right down to the perfectly placed heart. WOW! And I've never heard that mnemonic before either! But I do have one for the first ten elements of the Periodic Table: Hydrogen, he likes beer by cupfuls, not over flowing, Neon. It's kind of weird but I remember it from high school science and I'm afraid to say how many decades ago that was!
ReplyDeleteLinda I just LOVE your planet balloons! My hubby is a science geek, he would just love this card! We use that mnemonic in our house too - our amended version, minus Pluto, is 'My very educated mother just served us nachos' - just in case you'd like to adapt yours too! We are a family of mnemonic lovers - I use them to help my kids remember so many things! And if I don't already know one, we make them up to suit!! Thanks for joining us over at The Paper Players this week - always a joy to see you in the gallery!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I LOL when I saw your your planet sentence! I thought of that the other day when I heard a question on Jeopardy! Old teachers never die! I love this card! WOW! Planet balloons! SO happy you joined us at The Paper Players this week! XX
ReplyDeleteI love this card, Linda! Such a fun image and sentiment - you've worked them into this sketch perfectly. PERFECTLY!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool stamp and I love the way you used it.
