Peachy Keen - FMS121

Looks like Crisp Cantaloupe has become my go-to color for Valentines this year.........probably because cantaloupes make me think of summer which makes me think of picnics and barbecues and grass and warm sunshine..............fun to think about when there is a wind chill of 20 below outside with blowing and drifting snow!

I am hosting this week at  Freshly Made Sketches!  Join us and have fun playing with shapes!

So Sweet - FMS120,CC2

Love the Sweet Sorbet DSP from Sale-A-Bration this year! Actually I love everything sweet - I've never met a bakery I didn't like! Grandma Millie's is a bakery just outside of town located at our County Airport. It's location is unique and the homemade treats are wonderful but because it is just off the beaten path business isn't booming.  Enter Bakery Boss! Buddy Valastro and his crew came to the area recently and Grandma Millie's got a makeover.  Emma and her parents enjoy breakfast there weekly and were there during the filming of the final update segment of the show. Looks like Emma was more interested in breakfast than the cameras! No word yet when the show will be aired..........

Breakfast is over......looks like she has a plane to catch!

Rita has a wonderful banner sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
The Card Concept is having a texture challenge this week.  The new Decorative Dots embossing folder from SAB adds a wonderful pebbly look to the banner on my CAS card.

Hearts aren't just for Valentine's Day!  Hearts plus the new Banner Blast set from SAB along with Sweet Sorbet DSP make a sweet baby card.  Thought you might enjoy a photo of that sweet baby girl that keeps us busy most days.  Here's Emma and her Grandpa practicing for a new Olympic Sport.......Boxsledding! Sochi here we come!

So Many Thanks! FMS119

The Retro Fresh DSP and lots of stamped thank yous from Another Thank You combine to make a fun way to say thanks! Considering the winter we are having in NY there are many people around here who deserve a huge thanks -  the mailman, the paper boy, the plow crew, that UPS guy :)  How they are all managing to keep up I will never know!  And then there is that amazing septic tank crew - that's right the septic tank crew.  During the coldest week of the winter the septic tank at our camp "went south".  My son lives there year round so we needed help as soon as possible!  A few days after our call heavy equipment showed up along with a crew who managed to dig up the old and install a whole new system in a day. Not easy when it is 12 degrees with the wind blowing off the lake and the ground is frozen!   Of course we did have to make "other arrangements" for a few days.  Notice where my son had them put that other arrangement......he decided if he had to go outside he might as well have a lake view.........

I loved Cindy's slightly askew sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Such fun!

Sleepytime Stamping.......

Sneaking in some sweet stamping time while Miss Emma sleeps! Soft Sky is my favorite blue ever so I had to use the colors from Pals Paper Arts this week.  The Mojo Monday Sketch made it all come together quickly.   Thank Heaven for that because Miss Emma is definitely a quick sleeper!

It's You and Me Kid! FMS118

Christmas is almost all put away in my house so it's time to start thinking about Valentines! Sweet Sorbet DSP from the SAB catalog and the heart from Peachy Keen make a sweet combo! And yes we all need something to warm our hearts these days considering the Arctic blast that has taken hold here in the North Country.  I am quite happy with a book by the fire but the rest of the polar bears in my family head out to the slopes as often as they can.  I've added pictures today that warm my heart:

My two "kids" together riding a chair lift at our local ski area......

And one of Emma who had to stay behind with Grandma....

From the looks of things she will become a polar bear as well!

Jen Mitchell has kicked off 2014 with a terrific sketch for us at Freshly Made Sketches!

Wintry World

The early morning light at the lake paints a beautiful wintry scene......and also sets the scene to introduce my projects for Splitcoast Stamper's Creative Crew January Challenges! I was delighted - and honored - to be asked to join this crew for the first term of 2014! What a great way to start the year! We were asked to keep in mind the icy, shimmery, glittery look of winter when creating our 4 projects this month.  You can search CreativeCrew at Splitcoast to see the whole gallery.....and to play along with our challenges!

CCREW0114DF:  Use the new Fancy Foil Designer Vellum with cool wintry colors.  No vellum?  Just play it cool then.......

CCREW114CF:  All the world is glittery in the winter!  Bring on the glimmer, glitter and shine!

CCREW0114HF:  January is National Hobby Month.....create anything but a card!  I decided to set the table for a winter's lunch with the help of Festive Flurry Snowflakes.

CCREW0114SF:  I used to scrapbook but then I discovered card making and never looked back! So it was fun to follow a layout and create a scrapbook page for a change.  I used some proofs from my daughter's annual Christmas card shoot - always an event when wrangling a toddler and a dog!

Starring 2014! PPA186

Hello friends and Happy 2014!  I am starting the year off with a bit of glitz, some new images and framelits backed by that gorgeous designer vellum!

This card is headed to my friend since seventh grade and college roommate.  She is an amazingly talented gal who acted, sang and danced her way through school and inadvertently taught me the lyrics to numerous Broadway shows as she practiced....and practiced....and practiced. Come show time you could always count on me to be handing out the programs......and singing along in the back of the theater!  After college she headed to NYC to pursue a career in theater.  (I headed to the classroom where I was very good at handing out books and papers :)

Sharon may not be a household name but she has done some remarkable work in the entertainment field over the years. One of her good friends is the author Adriana Trigiani who has written several wonderful books starting with Big Stone Gap. Big Stone Gap has been made into a movie and my friend Sharon is in the movie!  A very small 5 line part but how exciting to work with a cast that includes Ashley Judd, Jenna Elfman, Jane Krakowski and Whoopi Goldberg!  (You can read all about the filming here on Adriana's Facebook page.)  Sharon's scene was with Whoopi so I have included a photo that she sent me of the two of them in character.

Filming finished just before Christmas and I have no idea when it will be released but I can't wait!  In the meantime I will send her this card to congratulate her on her big screen debut!

What a great color challenge to start the year at Pals Paper Arts!
