2010 Wrap Up - Eye Candy and Blog Candy!

Diane at Rubber 'n Rafters sent me this Stylish Blogger Award - what a great way to end the year!  Along with this award came the instructions to tell 8 things about yourself.  I decided to let my cards do the talking  - thought you might enjoy a look back at some of my 2010 creations  - the good, the bad and the downright ugly!

Let's start with The Good:

1.  Tea and cake are my two favorite food groups.......

2.  I love using Designer Paper on my cards........

3.  I am a minimalist at heart..........

4.  I taught elementary school for over 30 years and when the leaves start to turn I still long to go set up my classroom for the upcoming year.........

5.  I am an avid reader and I love an unexpected twist in a plot - and an unexpected twist in a card.........

6.  I love serendipity - the good surprises!  When I signed up to be a demo, I had no clue where it would all lead - and how many terrific people I would "meet" in cyberspace!  So thanks to all of you for your encouragement, support and friendship.........

The Bad:

7.  I am not artistic at all and have many areas to improve upon - like balance and proportion.  I don't know what is worse that huge out-of-whack bow or that lopsided red flower...........

And now The Downright Ugly!

8.  Sometimes I just don't know when to throw in the towel and start again!  I use all of my cards and usually make them with a specific person in mind.  I was determined to make a key on this "Congrats on your new home" card.  It is a disaster on many levels -  I never did send it out!

And if you made it this far you deserve a reward!  Leave me a comment for a chance to win the clear mount set - Eggcoutrements.  Trying to make a key just put me over the edge - I have never used the set since!  I'd love to see what you do with it for Easter!  Best wishes for a Happy 2011!

I'll announce the blog candy winner on Wednesday, January 5th!

We're alot alike. I love tea, don't know when to call it quits and although I'm not a teacher, the smell of sharpened pencils sends me back to school. Thanks for a chance to win some blog candy. Happy New Year!!!

Linda, you are too harsh on yourself! Those 'bad and ugly' cards are anything but. I enjoyed watching 'a year in review' though, since I am new to your blog. I have to go check out that black card in more detail....it really caught my eye. Happy New Year!!

Please skip me for the "contest." However, I had to tell you how much I enjoyed your post and sneak peek into "Linda C." OK, the key isn't my fave but many of the others are (like #6 with the circles)!

You're too hard on yourself, although I must say that your 'bad' wasn't my favorite! haha

Great Presentation! I too like designer paper but find that some of it is "too pretty" to use. Crazy - what am I saving it for? I am going to challenge myself to whittle away at my stash of designer paper this year!

Your cards, and you are beautiful. Thanks for the peek into your personality. Love your work, and the key card could be a sample for
the future work called "make this, not this".
But you captured the key to my heart!

I, too, am a minimalist at heart though I somethimes overdo it.

And I think the key card has possibilities....

It is amazing how fall and that last summer vacation make me yearn for my classroom even after years of retirement. I am glad to know I am not the only one. Thank you for sharing.

I just started reading your blog and must say even the cards you consider "ugly" could have fooled me, since I saw little wrong with them. But I love a lady who can fess up to a mistake, think I'll keep reading! Happy New Year!

I have a shoe box full of "Oh my gosh what was I thinking" and "this is so great lets make 5 more and I'll use them later" !!! I am going to take them to my next stamp meeting and put them out for people to take (hoping they can create something good) and then I'll not feel guilty about wasting and not finishing!!!! U especially like the birthday and packages. Hope you don't mind if I copy this for my design wall to use again

Love your cards. I only started stamping cards about a year ago and I look back at cards I did in April and I laugh, no wonder they are still in the bottom of my container, I wouldn't dare send them, but my cards now are showing my true talents and what I have learned over the year from friends and bloggers like yourself. Thanks for all your inspiration :)

I look forward to your artworks for the PPA. You artworks are awesome and I like how you use the stamps for other things than the intended usage. It's unique and I like them.

Oh Linda, you are way too harsh on yourself. You inspire with your creativity and imagination and that makes an artist in my dictionary! I always enjoy your fresh take on our craft. Looking forward too all you will bring us in 2011. Happy new year!

Your blog post is hilarious. Would have to agree your key card is my least favorite but it's not a throw-away by any means. You are too critical of yourself ~ give it a break and relax. Thanks for the blog candy offering and Happy New Year!

No. 5 is the same for me. I love twists in book plots and in stamped cards. Sometimes you need to gain a fresh perspective by taking a step or two back. (I'm saying this for me too.) Happy New Year! redstampinsam
