The Truth Shall Set You Free!
It takes me way too long to make a card! Just last night.............
I sat down with a Freshly Made Sketch on my desk and Bones on TV. I pulled out Summer Smooches DSP, Whisper White and started my design. I attempted a rosette out of Lucky Limeade but it did not go well. Soon my plans for a rosette and a Daffodil seam binding bow were tossed - literally. Onward to Field Flowers and into an episode of House! I stamped and snipped flowers in Rich Razzleberry - didn't like them. Next Island Indigo - mmm nope. Tangerine Tango, Real Red - nope, nope! Finally - Daffodil Delight! I kept those flowers and tossed the rest. Then I spied that seam binding again.
But it was also time for Smash! I edged the half circle with sticky strip and ruffled the seam binding as I watched those Broadway babies. Good thing I had red plastic strips to throw away because there on the floor was a scored piece of Lucky Limeade that had missed the wastebasket! Perfect for my middle panel! I edged it with the Pinking Hearts Border - didn't like it. Trimmed the edge and punched again with the Scalloped Trim Border - much better!
Smash ended so I turned off the TV and studied my unfinished card. Nothing was adhered and there were no embellishments. But suddenly things began to come together quickly! Pearls, flower brads, linen thread, dimensionals - I was on a roll! The white card base no longer worked for me so I switched to Lucky Limeade and rounded corners. Done!
Maybe I should have turned that TV off sooner!
How long does it take you to make a card? Faster than me I am sure! Hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

It takes me much longer than that Linda AND I don't even have the tv on!!!!
I love the colours you've chosen for your card and the popped up field flower is especially gorgeous.
Beautiful product! I enjoyed reading the process as well as seeing the product! Thought I was the only one who's finished card looks nothing like what my original idea was!
I can't seem to make one in just one sitting lately. I have to take a break and go back later to finally get everything to come together! Love how this one turned out; it has a fun spring feel to it. :)
Linda, you give me hope that I can someday make beautiful cards! You described my process to a tee, but I usually give up and just "go" for one I don't love. You have encouraged me to keep playing till I get it right. Lovely card with perfect colors and embellishments!
Gorgeous Linda!
I had to chuckle at your cardmaking process. I get all tickled with myself if I can actually make more than one card in a sitting...and I make CAS cards! lol
take care,
Blessings
This is a gorgeous card. I love it.
Absolutely stunning, Linda! I love the yellow and the red together! Awesome!
Gorgeous card, Linda! Sounds like my process much of the time, TV makes no difference! If at first you don't succeed....
Love your description of the creative process! Sounds so much like mine. Recently I have been so involved in garden maintenance that I cannot stay awake long enough to finish the card. There is always tomorrow! :)
Wow! Love how this turned out. I especially like how you arranged the seam binding ribbon.
I believe we all experience those times when a card takes forever to create, but your finished product is amazing!
Love the card Linda but I love the story of your process even more! Thanks for sharing.
Lol! You sound just like me! I do the best work without the tv, but somehow it stays on while I end up cursing my card! Yours turned out fabulous, glad you stuck with it!
Once again, great card AND great commentary. You are so entertaining! :) I love the flower brads with the linen thread. Perfect touch.
Your post cracked me up, Linda, because I can completely relate! I can not craft with the tv on yet it still takes me entirely too long to make a card. I go through the same indecisiveness every time...this ribbon, no that ribbon...lol! Your card was well worth the effort though. It is gorgeous and I love that color combo. :)
I'm afraid that I cannot admit to how long it takes me to make a card sometimes. It would be far too embarrassing! I will say that the TV is definitely a distraction sometimes and sometimes an excuse for why it took me so long to make a card.
Glad your efforts paid off because this is GORGEOUS!!!
No matter how long it took you sure ended up with a beauty Linda! I just love the colors, that red DSP is just fantastic!
I only listen to music when I stamp....if I had shows on I would never get anything done, my attention span isnt that great :)
It was worth the wait!! Beautiful card!!
I love what watching tv has produced! Hee hee. A beautiful card, love the bright colours, ruffled ribbon and little flower brads. x
Linda I LOVE how this turned out. It could have ended up in the BONE pile in your HOUSE, but instead you made it a SMASH hit!
I totally get the TV thing... I AlWAYS have the TV going even if I don't pay attention... guess I need that 'white noise'... hugs
simply stunning. what a fantastic color combination.
hugs, m
What a beautiful card Linda! The extra time spent was SO worth it! I love the ruffled ribbon detail with the seam binding!
I go through this all the time, Linda! No TV on, just the stuff talking in my head asking me if it isn't crooked or did I see an ink smudge there? Hmmm, let's start over... rip that off.... cover it up?
Your card is FABULOUS! I love it!
ha! Mine are usually timed to laundry. Get it started, washer beeps. Do some more, dryer beeps. Fold it, just about to start again... 10 minutes til the bus arrives ;)
Wonderful, colorful card! Forget the clock :)
Beautiful card, Linda. I love the design, colors and the same tv shows. Well done!

i also loved reading the process. it takes me forever sometimes, then other times they come together quickly. i love your color choices! and the fact that you used a discared piece, perfect!
What a wonderful card! I love everything about it, but I'm sorry it took you so long. It was well worth the long process, though...
Thank heavens it isn't just me!! You give us all hope since this was clearly worth the time! Love the Daffodil Delight flowers!!
I missed SMASH this week! Ugh! Hockey playoff season is upon us...love the cool colour combo Linda...awesome with the daffodil flair...
So so funny .... love your post and love this card! A true work of art this one is, the pretty brad flowers, the twine, the ribbon ... so gorgeous!
Linda I am in love with your card! The beautiful flowers and the pretty ribbon detail...not to mention the sweet polka dots! Just marvelous!!
I loved your play-by-play, Linda! Good for you for perservering because your card ended up very pretty and very cheerful!
I enjoyed reading about the process of your card. I think that happens to all of us at one time or another. Your card turned out beautiful. I like how you used the thread as a vine for the flowers and the ribbon is so pretty around your flowers. Oh and I love how you stamped the one flower off the circle and paper pieced it. Very creative. TFS.
FABULOUS card, Linda! I like the flower that stands outside the circle, and, well, just everything about this.
Whatever you were watching or not watching, this is beautiful!
No matter how long it takes you, I love the end result! Glad to know I'm not the only one who changes their mind so many times during the process! Nice to be in good company! Linda C., I love your style!
Hey stranger! You make me laugh!Love the colors and all the detail. You make it look so easy! REally beautiful card.
