Gram.......FMS454

We laid my mother to rest in early September on a beautiful fall day.....surrounded by flowers and family in our small village cemetery. It was the perfect way to celebrate her life and say good bye. Her memory failed her in recent years but her spirit and delight in life never wavered.  She lived in the moment and enjoyed it. We had started outdoor visits recently at the assisted living facility and at our last one the aide lured her back inside with the promise of a hot cup of coffee.  She waved good bye to me and I heard her say to the aide as they walked away "I love your blouse...such a beautiful color!  Where did you get it?"  Always interested in the latest fashion....and coffee!

Because of you know what our gathering was small but we shared stories and laughed and cried together. And the youngest members of the family took care of watering all of the flowers everywhere before we left.  They loved that pump!

And I must say thank you to so many of  you who have sent beautiful cards or messages.  Every day for the past two weeks there has been something in my mailbox - or my inbox - it has truly meant so much.

Jacquie has a wide open sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches - hope you join us!

Linda, it must have been such a blessing to witness that delight, to the very last day of her life.
I'm so very, very sorry for your loss, my friend.
Love and hugs,

I have been thinking of you a lot lately, Linda, as you travel down this challenging path! It is never easy losing your mom, but you have happy memories to keep her close! I love your pictures of the cemetery....we have a pump like that too, only it's inside a dark shed and when I used to go visit the cemetery with my grandmother, I wouldn't go in the shed...too spooky! How fun that the kids will have great memories to share as well!
Your card is sweet and thoughtful...just like you!

This is such a beautiful card Linda! I just love the background and those pretty flowers! Did you know the centre part of the Queen Anne's lace is what attracts the bees? It's a little purple flower. I am so sorry about your mom and I know you and your family will miss her dearly. I will miss hearing about her antics and seeing how much she loved to party. I still think you need to write a book of her stories and memories!

What a lovely card. I am sorry about the loss of your mom. I lost mine in late April - We have yet to hold a service. Will most likely do a Celebration of Life next April on the 1 year Anniversary of her passing. - They stay in our hearts forever. Wishing you many fond memories of your mom.
