Fusion: Tulips

This stamp set and DSP are among my all time favorites - inspired by tulip season in Holland! So beautiful!  My dad's family came to America from Holland waaaay back in the 1920's.  He was born here the year after his parents and brothers and sisters arrived and grew up in Amsterdam, NY....of course!

My mother and her family came here from England so I always thought I was half Dutch and half English.  But in this era of DNA testing I have learned it doesn't always work like that.  My daughter gave me one of those DNA testing kits last year for my birthday. I finally sent it in and recently got the results. I didn't sign up for any of the extra stuff like find relatives or medical issues - I just wanted nationalities.....

17% Scandinavian  (Perhaps due to Viking raids way back when?!?)

41% British (But definitely not a Blueblood !)

42% Dutch (And somewhere up there my dad is smiling....)

I used the sketch and the photo as inspiration this week - you do what works for you! Hope you join us at Fusion!

This is so charming! The images are wonderful - and I love your strip of tulips!! Hey - my family might have been your Viking raiders!

Fascinating ancestral history! And fascinating card! I always loved anything Dutch-related too, but no Dutch blood in my family! I just loved all those tulips and windmills, I guess! Just like your pretty card!

My maiden name had me and everyone else thinking I was certainly Dutch - Vander anything would be a dead give away, right? Nope - but I live only 40 minutes from Holland, Michigan so tulips are a very big deal around here - and my very favorite of all Spring blooms!
Linda, your card is fabulous! LOVE those windmills and I want to tiptoe through your field of tulips, too!

Love your story about your lineage just about as much as I love this card! The windmillls work perfectly with the tulip theme - you are too clever!

Love the tulips and sweet windmills on your card and so fun that you have some ancestral insight from your DNA test too - this kind of thing fascinates me!!
