We drove to my son's this weekend to pick up our lawn tractor now that their yardwork is finished. The drive is just over an hour on the main roads. But why would you ever take the main roads when you can drive through the mountains and around the lake on twisty turning back roads hauling a trailer carrying a mower? But that's a subject for another blog post.
As the Big Guy turned to head home through the mountains I reminded him there were no drive through places to grab dinner on that route. No problem says he - the Edinburgh Diner is doing takeout. (Edinburgh is basically a crossroads on the way home but they do have a great diner there.) I am rapidly losing cell service now as we head into the mountains so I google Edinburgh Diner and hit the green call button in a flash. I managed to order two dinners complete with pie before I lost contact.
A half hour later it is pouring rain as we get to the diner. The Big Guy goes in and comes right back out saying they don't have our order. I show him the phone and say look I called them. So back in he goes and back out he comes and says they don't have it. And I say fine I will call them back.
When the gal answers I tell her we are in Edinburgh and ask her exactly where her diner is located. And she says just down the street from the high school. Wait - there is no high school in Edinburgh, NY!
So if you were in the Edinburgh Diner in Edinburgh, Indiana Sunday night and got two free dinners on the house, you're welcome........

Pretty card! Love the clean design. Hahahahaha, wishing that I lived in Indiana...I'd have snapped up your two free meals for sure. ;) Too funny!!
I laughed right out loud! Living up here in the boonies, we never think that there might be a different "Edinburgh". You're lucky you didn't connect to Scotland! Love this design. Might just steal it for a card for my 94 year old aunt.
I really like the CAS design of your card! And I love your story! Thanks for sharing both with us!
Oh my goodness, your story made me crack up!!! Yeah, you've got to watch out for those listings with duplicate names!!! Well, anyway, your card is delightful and I am happy to see that fun sketch using those pretty papers!
Thanks for the chuckle, Linda. Love your card and your aunt will be thrilled to receive it. Enjoy your day!
I love the clean look of the black and white with the little pop of red. That diner surely appreciated your order during these times -- it was just your way of helping the Indiana economy. How kind of you!
I guess that's a lesson learned, Linda... sorry to chuckle over your loss, but this is priceless!
And so is your card! xx

Love this card Linda! The woodgrain background has to be one of my favourite! Love the bee paper too! So sweet! I sure hope someone in Indiana got to enjoy your dinner!!! Best. Story. Ever!
OK- I'm laughing out loud!! All 4,000 people in Edinburgh Indiana probably are impressed with your generosity!
LOVE your use of the sketch. The patterned strips are a fun backdrop for that sweet sentiment!
