Over the Edge....FMS184

Kim has a fun sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  She asked us to take an element and just put it over the edge a bit!  Over the edge describes me perfectly these days as we enter week three of our kitchen renovation! But the new floor is down, cabinets are almost done and the appliances arrive today so the end is in sight.

Last night I read an article that listed eight things you
"must" do if you renovate your kitchen.  I have learned a few things of my own through this renovation so I thought I would share a few things you should know if you undertake a major renovation........

1.  Buy a new bathrobe.....especially if your refrigerator is on the porch.  Construction guys get up very early so you will be answering the door by 7 am.

2.  Don't think for one minute that those plastic sheets hung in the doorways will keep construction dust out of the rest of your house.

3.  Scraping glue and vinyl off your kitchen floor with an ice scraper for 6 hours pretty much guarantees you won't be able to get out of bed the next morning.

4.  Don't read articles that tell you 8 things you must do in your kitchen reno because you might get to #8 and realize you haven't done one of them......

                                 Hope you join us!

Hey Mr. Postman! FMS183

My daughter needed a card to thank someone on her team at work.  So I gathered up everything I could find that looked "office-like"!  I used the file tab framelits to create the look of file folders, found a clip, gathered twine, stamped the note banner from Tap Tap Tap, made a note book page using the spiral border punch and found a piece of Birthday Bash DSP that looks like books on a shelf.  But none of my thank you sentiments worked for me until...............the mailman came! He delivered this month's Paper Pumpkin kit and there were the words I needed right inside!  Hey thanks a lot Mr. Postman - the phrases worked perfectly!

I am hosting this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Hoping you join our gallery - I love seeing all of your amazing work!

The Stamp Review Crew: Zoo Babies

The Stamp Review Crew is featuring Zoo Babies this week.  I used animals from Zoo Babies but added a sentiment from Hi There - I thought it worked perfectly since the elephant would have to look up to that giraffe to say hello!

And look who I got to say hello to last weekend at my stamp gathering.....the amazing Heidi Baks!  I "met" Heidi online through The Stamp Review Crew and she invited me to that get together.  I am so glad she did!  It was wonderful to meet her in person.  We had a lot of fun that day!

Speaking of Heidi........if you arrived here from Heidi's blog you are right on track!

I know you'll enjoy your next stop at Martha's blog!

I used the sketch from Fab Friday this week for my card design.

Happy For You! PPA248

Last Saturday I attended a gathering of stampers in central NY.  It was terrific meeting so many people that I have "chatted" with on Splitcoast. These gals were wonderful and kept me on track as I participated in a shoebox swap for the first time ever! Yep I was a total rookie! I learned new techniques, tried new products and marveled at the talent in that room as I worked my way through 25 boxes.  I  used one of those techniques on the star today. I swiped three colors of ink across a clear block, spritzed it with water and pressed down a piece of watercolor paper.  After it dried I used a star framelit to cut out the star. Simple and sweet............just like Kerry's sketch today at Pals Paper Arts.....

Such an amazing talented group of ladies!

Leavin' on a Jet Plane.....FMS182

Leavin' on a jet plane sounds pretty good to me right about now.  We are putting in a new kitchen and today was demo day.......wow what a mess! Half of my house is without power, there are plastic sheets across the kitchen doorways, and the only appliance still running is the refrigerator - and that is out on the back porch.  Trouble is I have to go out the front door and walk around the house to get to it.  Hope the neighbors appreciate the fuzzy slippers and flannel bathrobe!

Here is the demo crew - my husband and son-in law - hard at work. Tomorrow the electricians are coming........my husband and son-in-law.  :)

The sky's the limit this week when you create using Rita's fabulous sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!

Every Day is Cake Day! FMS181

I love this sentiment from Age Awareness because any day could be cake day in my world.  I combined it with the cake image from Amazing Birthday and  Birthday Bash DSP. A touch of gold finished up my card in no time! Good thing because there's a cake in the oven.......

My very artistic friend Jen Mitchell tilted the panel a bit at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Let's see what you create when things are slightly askew!

The Stamp Review Crew: Painted Petals

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's Hop!  This week we are featuring Painted Petals - a beautiful set from Stampin' Up! that has endless possibilities!  I kept my embellishments to a minimum and just let the stamped images take center stage.

The flowers and spring colors of Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi are perfect for the Easter Season.  Our Easter Sunday started off white with a coating of snow but ended with a warm family dinner.  My amazing cousin Cindy has the whole family over for a wonderful Easter dinner every year.......hmmm looks like an extra guest just arrived at the back door......

So grab a cup of tea and enjoy the hop!  If you just visited the amazing Deb Currier you are right on track.  Now hop off to see what sweet treats Rochelle Blok has in store!

Hoppy Easter! PPA246

I just love that bunny from Happy Easter Bunny!  First I stamped the background flowers of that set without him. Then I stamped him separately, colored him with Crumb Cake Blendabilities to match that wonderful kraft paper and snipped him out.  The sentiment is from For Peeps' Sake - works perfectly since that little guy is definitely happy and hoppy! He must be celebrating the fact that his eggs are done and ready for Easter delivery! Here is someone else who is ready to hop off and hide some eggs! As you can see out the window I think there will be some eggs tucked into snowbanks this year and not under the daffodils!

Wishing you a wonderful Easter weekend - hope you get a chance to play along with us at Pals Paper Arts!

Bravo! FMS180

I want to send a Bravo out to all of the people who are working tirelessly in my hometown of Gloversville, NY to raise money to renovate our 100 year old Carnegie library - where I still work part time.  Noted author Richard Russo is from Gloversville and is the honorary chairman of our Capital Campaign. It takes an extraordinary amount of manpower and grit to undertake such a fundraiser. The story of our library and its quest was featured recently in the New York Times.  (You can check out the link here)  My husband - who serves on the Board of Directors of our local Little League organization - received a call from a former resident who saw the Times article on the library and decided to make a donation............to the Gloversville Little League......that made us all smile.....the ripple effect!

That fabulous Jen Timko has designed a wonderful sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches - it is open to endless interpretations!  Hope we see yours in the gallery!
