Fusion: Mother's Day

Why do I look at this card and hear Lion King songs in my head?  Not a lion in sight - just those sweet giraffes!  They are perfect for a welcome baby card!

Oh those sweet giraffes!  I used the sketch and the photo as inspiration this week at Fusion.  Join us!

Bits and Pieces.....FMS 483

There are so many options with the Fine Art Floral Suite and my desk is presently littered with flowers of all colors and pieces of DSP.  When I make a card with lots of bits I make extra because I do a lot of trial and error arranging and stamping in various shades until I come up with a combo I like.  And extra bits and pieces are always good to have around.......unless of course you are building a swing set.....

The Big Guy somehow managed to turn this -

Into this -

Good thing we had several days of rain so the he could sit on the porch and assemble this jigsaw puzzle!

Our resident florist Narelle Farrugia designed our sketch this week.  I always love her floral designs!  But you can use whatever you want with her terrific sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

The very creative sketch this week is brought to you by Karren Johnson - who just happens to be the team member the farthest away from me in New Zealand!  Bring the world together and join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

My card is a mini slim (3.5 by 6) due to my lack of 12 by 12 paper - I may have to remedy that!

You've Got Mail....FMS481

E-mails make me sigh and "real" mail makes me smile!  Why is that?  I turned the circles on the sketch into colorful envelopes to hopefully bring a smile to the recipient!  I also designed this card to showcase Stampin' Up's! new In Colors.  They will be available in the new catalogue in May.  I am usually not a pink fan but Polished Pink might just be my favorite!  I am sure you will able to spot Pale Papaya, Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent as well.  The Soft Succulent gems are also new and come in all of the new colors.

Have fun with Cecile's delightful sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

Birthday Gifts - FMS480

Last month I participated in a three day event called "Crop & Create ~ delivered" sponsored by Scrapbook & Cards Today.......all part of my pandemic self improvement program!  It was fun but definitely a workout!  Cathy Zielske creates fabulous CAS cards so her class was one of my favorites because I am a total CAS fan.  I used one of her tone on tone techniques to create today's FMS card.  I stamped the background stamp Gift Boxes (SSS) in VersaMark and embossed it in white on pink paper.  Then I took an alcohol marker in a darker shade of pink and and colored in only the ribbons.  Simple but oh so pretty! I used a long retired SU edging die to create the curves.

Jen Brum threw us a curve this week!  Have fun with it and join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

Stamp Review Crew: Many Messages

The Stamp Review Crew is featuring the set Many Messages today.  It is one large stamp with multiple sentiments.  One trip through the Big Shot with a  coordinating die cuts them all out at once!

So I stamped the sentiments, cut them out and started thinking about what type of card I would make.

But then I kept looking at the leftover scrap.........

and a strange idea began to form!  I cut three more times using Early Espresso and woodgrain patterns, did a bit of trimming and ended up building a chicken coop for my favorite chicks!

So have fun with Many Messages - the possibilities are endless!

If you missed Charlet's wonderful work head back there....

Otherwise check out Stesha's amazing work!

Fusion: Bee Kind

When I looked at the Fusion challenge yesterday I though uh oh.....I don't have any bees.  So I checked my snippet bowl where three tiny bees were hiding......

They were too tiny for my idea so I scoured retired SU sets and found an old hostess set called Pun Intended that had one big fat bee image!  Score!  But the sentiments didn't work so I hunted for the set that went with the tiny bees - an ancient set from Sunny Studio.  I found it in a bin and it had a cute sentiment that said just bee-cause.......but the word just was missing!

On a shelf behind my desk is a clock with a silver metal casing.  If I find a random clear stamp on the floor or somewhere that it shouldn't be I just stick it to the clock!  My theory is that if I pull out a set with a missing piece I just check the clock!  So I crossed my fingers and checked the clock and sure enough there was the tiniest little stamp that said just!  It has been there so long that I don't even remember putting it there!

And it was smooth sailing from then on - I found a random piece of Hello Honey Ribbon, an inky background from my Distress Ink class, a honeycomb embossed card front and Cinnamon Cider embellishments.  I need to just look around my desk more often!

It is always fun to play at Fusion!  Hope you join us!
