Noel - Merry Monday #80

The weekend is upon us and it is THAT weekend around here..............the one where we head out to the tree farm and tag our Christmas trees.  This year we will need three perfect trees - one for my daughter's house, my son's and ours.  But my favorite Christmas tree is a small artificial tree that sits in my attic - still decorated.  My kids had small artificial trees in their bedrooms when they were young. Every year my daughter would decorate hers perfectly with a theme or her favorite colors but my son's tree.....well that was another story.  Any ornament or trinket that got broken or squashed or torn would be rescued from the trash and hung on his tree.  He couldn't stand the thought of throwing away a Christmas ornament. So what if Santa on skis only had one ski!  Who cares that Rudolph's red nose was long gone? And as long as one bubble light still bubbled the strand worked fine as far as he was concerned.  He told his tree every night how special it was and I still can't bring myself to throw it out twenty years later!  It might be time to pass that tree back to its rightful owner this year............

I am playing along with the Merry Monday challenge this week.

What a sweet story about your son. He may like to have that tree now. This is a pretty card. I love the little sparkles that hang.

Awwwww....If you do give him back the tree; I would take a video camera with you to capture that special reaction. I, myself, would love to see his face when he see's the tree! What a great memory!

I love this card. Simple enough for me to do. I really like the 3 ornaments hanging down from the sentiment. I struggle with putting patterned DSP with patterned DSP; but, this really looks nice together. Thanks for sharing your card and your story with us! Way cool!!! Lynn G.

Love your story about your son and his Christmas tree. I don't like to throw my ornaments away either and I do try to repair them or leave them in the box until next year. Pretty card I had to have a good look at the ornaments I thought they might have been shiny buttons. Thanks for sharing at Merry Monday this week.

What a beautiful card; a perfect 'companion piece' to the heart-warming story of your son's raggle-taggle darling Christmas tree! I was reminded of the animated Rudolph (with Yukon Cornelius, still cracks me up with his 'sled' dogs made up mainly of terriers) and the Island of Misfit Toys. Someone needed to take care of them and find them a home, just as your son did for the 'misfit' ornaments. I'm sure he'll love this tree now just as he did when a boy - and what a fabulous mom you are for keeping it over the years! Thank you for your warm comment on my site; you've definitely brightened my day (and coming here to visit: wow!!).

So pretty, Linda! Love the simplicity of this while it packs a big WOW. There should be a children's book or cartoon about a little boy saving misfit ornaments with the stories behind them!
