The Flakes Are Flying! FMS666

And just like that my holiday cards are done! A final scattering of snowflakes on my last batch of cards and that's it until next year! I found a fancy piece of vellum in my stash that looks like it has snow scattered across it and it layered beautifully on some gold foil.

I will be taking a bit of a break until the new year.....although I don't know how much "break" will be involved.  So much happening in the next three weeks!  Looking forward to sneaking in some quiet moments to enjoy the holiday spirit. Wishing you all a peaceful holiday season and a very Happy New Year!

I flipped Jen Brum's slim line sketch to scatter my snowflakes down the side of the sketch. Hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

Merry Bookmas! TTTC#262

A stack of books, a snowstorm and a cozy fire sounds good to me this time of year!  This is such a cute die/stencil set from Waffle Flower but I don't think I have scratched the surface of ways to use it. I just used some distress inks and strips of paper behind the cut outs to define the books.  If life slows down around here in the next week or two (ha!) I will play with this set some more as I have several book loving friends! But meanwhile it worked for the Tic Tac Toe Board - right across the middle!

The Holiday Season....FMS665

And just like that winter and the holiday season arrived in a hurry here!  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving snowstorm and a terrific feast at my daughter's house. Miss Emma set a delightful table and we had a houseful of people.... and pups!

I have been busy finishing tags, cards and wrapping in my craft room so when I saw Kim's sketch this week I knew I could sift through the mess on my desk and come up with something quickly - which I did! I always start crafting with a clean put together desk except for the holidays......chaos reigns in my craft room from all the holiday prep!  It will all be put back together by the New Year!

Hope you have fun with Kim's sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Join us!

Festive Trees....FMS664

I recently took a holiday card class from On Line Card Classes - so many great instructors and wonderful ideas!  Kristina Werner designed the Holiday Assortment Stamp Set with Concord and 9th that was used throughout the classes.  I used stamps and dies from that set in my card today....and I just happened to have some left over gold snowflakes from all those tags to add to the design!

It's a busy week here as we get ready for the holiday season.  My daughter is hosting Thanksgiving dinner  - and I am bringing three pies.  So if you are reading this on Wednesday please know that I am covered in flour and working away in my kirchen.............

I am hosting this week at Freshly Made Sketches - hope you can sneak in some time to create this week!

Holiday Home....FMS663

Such a sweet sketch calls for a sweet image!  I used assorted scraps of paper from my "holiday scraps" and an image from Humble Home.  I've been busy this week making fifty tags for a friend who makes holiday baskets for a local hospital.  Last year we went with a Christmas Tree theme .....this year snowflakes! 25 tags were made from gold metallic paper and silver snowflakes and 25 were made with silver metallic paper and gold snowflakes.  I watched a lot of Netflix while making sure all those little bits were punched out of the snowflakes.  I am still finding shiny bits here and there!  The gold bits on the swirl above the door were added at the last minute when I noticed some gold sparkles still scattered on my desk!

Jen Mitchell did not disappoint me - I always love her square sketches! Join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

I loved these happy visitors so much I had to make a few more cards!

Celebrate the Holidays.....#TTTC260

I am a total fan of the Chrstmas Labels stamp set with matching dies! A pretty sentiment and beautiful DSP dressed up the front of this card very quickly - handy when making a zillion or two!  The pumpkin decor has been replaced by turkeys in our house except in the craft room where it is full on Christmas! My goal is always to have my cards done by Thanksgiving but ya never know.......

I went across the bottom row for our challenge today!  Hope you join in the fun at Tic Tac Toe!

Not Quite Cocoa Season....FMS661

I have officially moved on to winter mode but the weather is not cooperating!  Such a warm fall and no real frost yet!  I am ready for chilly nights, a warm fire, Netflix and hot chocolate! The pups haven't even needed their sweaters yet......soon......

The More Than Autumn stamp set is just that - lots of fall and winter images and sentiments to play with!

Ghosts and Bats and Spiders - what more do you need for a Halloween?!? Sneaking in one final Halloween card as we approach the big day! Emma and Will are coming tomorrow to hand out candy to our expected crowd of trick or treaters - always a fun evening!

Emma's class had costume day at school this past week.  She and three of her friends dressed up as The Golden Girls.  Can you guess which Golden Girl she was?

Wishing you entertaining visitors this Halloween!

A Flurry of Wishes....FMS659

My Halloween cards are in the mail so Christmas card making is in full swing.  I usually start with designer paper when I have a lot of cards to make. I use the colors and images as inspiration. I was a bit unsure about green snowflakes but I took my cue from the DSP and thought "what the heck" - Will's favorite saying these days!

Speaking of Will we had a Halloween craft day here this week  After painting ghost leaves and shrinky dinks Will and Emma decided to make themselves into ghosts using old sheets. Always entertaining around here!

Amy has a fun sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches! Scatter whatever you like across your card!

Sunflowers - #TTTC258

My cousin hosted a mortgage burning party recently - a fun event for a big moment!  Sunflowers are in bloom during early fall days so I decided to stencil some on a celebratory card for her.  The card was perfect with the big bouquet of sunflowers that I brought for her!

I also stamped some small sunflowers from a Lawn Fawn set in the front corner of the envelope and colored them with copics to coordinate with my card. I need to decorate my envelopes more often!

I went down the right side of the grid this week at Tic Tac Toe. Hope you play along!

Let It Snow But Not Just Yet....FMS657

My ice skating days are over but I do have fond memories of spending many winter afternoons skating on a local rink.  We aren't quite ready for snow and ice here yet as we are enjoying an amazingly beautiful fall!  Lots of soccer games!

I made a tag following Karren's sketch but if you have to change it up a bit she won't mind at all! We love to see your interpretations at Freshly Made Sketches!

Halloween Pumpkins....FMS655

Well it has been a week around here -soccer games, doctor appointments, new furniture delivery, and general nonsense.....and somehow I lost a day and did not have my FMS card done in time! I keep leftover holiday pieces in separate envelopes so I dumped out the Halloween envelope and crossed my fingers this morning. And there was a lovely batch of batch of pumpkins! I started with them and added on some other pieces I found in the envelope! A bit of coloring and some DSP and I was done!

Now I am headed to the living room for some Netflix by the fireplace on this rainy afternnon - I need a day of rest! We have had an amazingly gorgeous and warm September and have been very busy with the grands. So an afternoon by the fire on a cool day sounds good to me!

Holiday Trees....FMS654

I was in a bit of a retro mood this week and decided to use these funky trees from Stamps of Life. The backgound triangles were embossed with an ancient SU! embossing folder and the sentiment is from an ancient Paper Pumpkin kit. But the gold sparkle sheet is brand new as is that wonderful plaid designer paper. And somehow it all came together for a fun holiday card!

I went with triangle trees but feel free to use two of anything in your design! Hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches!
