Our celebration continues at Freshly Made Sketches!  In keeping with our flashback sketches  for the month of August today we present Sketch 200.....a wide open design for all sorts of creative ideas!  200 challenges ago I went with a Halloween theme....

This time around I went with a  summery roller coaster theme.  Being on the FMS team has been a wonderful ride!  Hope you come along this week!

Fusion: Family

When the Big Guy and I bought a tiny cabin on a lake forty years ago we had no idea (and no children at the time) that it would become the center of family gatherings.  I'd be a millionaire if I had a nickel for every time a kid jumped off the dock......or the boat...or an inner tube...or someone's shoulders!  I do a lot more reading by the lake these days than jumping in the lake - the next generation has that well in hand.  On quiet days I swear I can still see my dad teaching my son to fish off the rock wall.......

I love the lake scenes you can build from this Hero Arts set!  Hope you join us at Fusion!

Celebrating #400! FMS/1/100

Freshly Made Sketches is celebrating 400 Sketches this month and we are going retro a bit for the month of August.  This card is based on our very first sketch - which we also used for #100.  It is fun to look back at previous designs. I followed the #1 Sketch exactly for a Back to School card.  For #100 I used two coffee cups on an anniversary card. And the third time around I definitely loosened things up using clouds and a plane as sketch elements.

Jen Mitchell and I have been on the team since Lesley Croghan developed it with Jen Timko joining just a few sketches later.  The two Jens are the backbone of this team and do all of the behind the scenes heavy lifting!  Those three very talented ladies are responsible for this challenge taking off ...... and keep it flying high!

I hope you join us as we celebrate this month.....and there just may be some prizes popping up before the month is over!

Retail Therapy

We can all use a little retail therapy now and then.  This sentiment is perfect to use when enclosing a gift card!  Emma is vacationing in Cape Cod this week with her cousins so naturally the Big Guy had to send spending money to the kids for their own "retail therapy."  Emma made three cards for her cousins and the Big Guy added $$$ and wrapped them up............this was the final result.....

Sometimes you just have to go with the flow........

I used the sketch from Fab Friday for my design.

You've Got A Friend......FMS399

If this sentiment makes you want to sing a James Taylor song then you and I are on the same wavelength!  I had to combine a sentiment from Bella and Friends and one from Daisy Lane to make it work.  But now I am going to be hearing that song in my head all day!

Use three of any shape you'd like for Jen Brum's sweet sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

Fusion: Kindness

I always try to combine both the photo and the sketch when I create my Fusion card but sometimes that can be challenging!  Not gonna lie the picture this week gave my CAS heart palpitations!  But some Designer Paper came to my rescue and I tried to keep the rest neat :)

And I need to give a shout out to one of my good friends (and best Children's librarian ever!)  She knits hats for ladies undergoing treatment for cancer - a small act of kindness during a difficult time in their lives.  She asked me last week if I could make a simple tag to attach to the hats. So I sent 55 tags off to her and she sent me back these two pictures......

A wonderful act of kindness for sure.....

Back on Your Feet.....FMS398

Back on Your Feet from Stampin' Up is as cute as can be and the perfect set for get well wishes.  This card is headed to the Big Guy's barber.  I don't know about you but I can't even begin to count how many people have cut my hair in the last fifty years.  But the Big Guy has only had one!  His barber is well into his eighties and has reduced hours but has no plans to retire. Unfortunately for the first time that we can remember he has closed his shop due to illness.  Word on the street though is that he will be up and clipping soon!

Cecile has a delightfully breezy sketch for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  Hope you join us!

The Paper Players has a CAS masculine theme this week.

Fusion: Ombre

I tried three different colors for my flowers before settling on lavender.  It reminded me of an experiment my third graders would do when we studied plants.  The kids loved to see a white chrysanthemum change color when food coloring was added to the water in the vase.  And it never failed every year someone would think of splitting the stem and using two - or more -  vases of colored water to create a multicolored flower.  And it also never failed that someone would spill their vase and go home wearing a big yellow - or orange - or blue splot.......I miss those little kids!

So many options with this week's Fusion challenge!  Hope you join us!

Movie Night - FMS396

So which one of these kitties are you when you watch a movie?  I am the one on the right covering my eyes!  I love to go to the movies but these days the violence can be overwhelming - even in a movie I am enjoying.  Truth be told I don't actually cover my eyes - I just take off my glasses!  I am so nearsighted that the movie screen becomes a big blur and I can figure out what is happening without the visuals.  When things calm down I put my glasses back on and carry on!

I turned the sketch sideways this week at Freshly Made Sketches to accommodate those movie going kitties.  It is my turn to host so I hope you will join in the fun!  I love to visit your galleries and see all of the creative interpretations of the sketch!

Dino Daze....FMS395

The new dinosaur set from Stampin' Up! is such fun!  It makes a delightful - and unexpected - baby card!  Emma loves this set and was working alongside of me on her own dinosaur card.  She has mastered using the mini Misti in spite of the "scary magnets" as she says!  She picked out her own stamps, paper and inks for her card.  And she is a pro at using my new electric die cutting machine.  I won't let her near the paper cutter though!

I snapped a quick picture of her card before she left even though it was already in a cello bag for transport.  But I promised her I would blog it so here it is!

I think my CAS style is rubbing off on her!

Jen Mitchell loves square sketches - me too!  So I am always delighted when she designs a square sketch!  Join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

Fusion: Triangles

This is me.....Every Single Night.........and it all started long ago with Dick, Jane,Spot and the Bobbsey Twins.....then Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden and The Boxcar Children showed up.  Ramona Quimby and her friends made me laugh and Laura Ingalls Wilder's adventures on the prairie were captivating.  And that was just the beginning.....reading never gets old.  Just last week I was Where the Crawdads Sing and this week I am part of The Alice Network.....can't wait to see where I go next week!

I did a total Fusion using both the photo and the sketch! I only turned the Turnabout Triangle stamp twice to get the wall pattern.  Hope you join us!

You're Clawsome....FMS394

Miss Emma's teachers this year have definitely been "clawsome!" So I was glad to contribute to their thank you gifts by stamping some adorable tags using the new set called Check You Out!

First these sweet striped bowls from thirty-one....

Then some candy......

Gather the tags.....

Wrap bowls in cellophane and attach tags.....

And make some more.....

I love Jen Timko's sweet sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches!  I turned the horizontal panel into a sand bar and it looks like all the critters are having a good time!

And what were you Groovin' to back in the day?

Lickety Split - FMS391

Watching dogs run agility courses is a lot of fun!  Long ago I had a Scottie that I took to a weekly agility class.  The instructor wasn't sure about her at first since she had never had a Scottie in one of her classes but Pudge did well - relatively speaking.  She did master the course but at her own speed - slooooooow.  And then there was the matter of the jumping bars. We always ran last because the bars had to be put on the lowest rung for her. But she weaved and tunneled and teeter-tottered like a champ!  It was great fun!  The real stars of the class were the pups that look similar to the one on my card - those border collies flew around the track!

Amy's wonderful sketch is perfect for creating a sweet little scene!  Hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

Stamp Review Crew: Daisy Delight

I love the set Daisy Delight and have made several cards using the big daisy and the large sentiment.  (I'll share a sample below.)  So I decided to challenge myself to use the images of this set that I have neglected.  Nothing fancy here today...just a bit of masking.  Sometimes I forget it is fun to just stamp....and it was so much fun (ha!) that I have several versions of this scene on my desk in all different color combos with all sorts of inky smudges on them. Keeping Whisper White white is a skill in itself!

If you just came from seeing Lou's wonderful creation then you are going in the right direction.

Now you can head onward to see Cindy's delightful work!

Cas(e) this Sketch is one of my favorite sketch challenges because their sketches can really make you think!

This is the very first card I made with this set two years ago!

Stamp Set:  Daisy Delight
Paper:  Whisper White, Mango Medley, Night of Navy
Ink:  Night of Navy, Mango Medley, Gorgeous Grape, Call Me Clover
