Birthday Awareness......FMS142

Birthday cards should be happy - just like birthdays should be!  So I used the new DSP called Confetti Celebration along with some balloons (Paper Smooches) and enamel dots (My Mind's Eye) to create a "Happy" Birthday card.  The sentiment is from a new SU set called Age Awareness.  And when it comes to age and my birthday I don't need reminding.......I am so aware.......

Hand Picked - PPA208

My new stuff from Stampin' Up! arrived this week.  I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed by it all and didn't know where to start once I had spread it all out on my craft table. So I put all the of the stamp sets back into the box and had my secretary reach in and pull one out. That secretary may have peeked because this cute little koala is hard to resist!  I added some extra flowers, a new clip, some new cotton ribbon and twine and Kind Koala is all set to head out and spread some cheer.

In the meantime my secretary is back at work - checking on the next shipment perhaps - not sure how she made out though since she is chatting into my calculator.......

Everyone Loves a Convertible - FMS 141

I am still playing with that Something for Baby set - so many wonderful images!  I embellished the card with the flower and hearts from Pictogram Punches and the result  is a sweet card for a baby girl.  I like to make my cards with a specific person in mind and the soon-to-be mom who will be receiving this has chosen not to find out until delivery whether the baby is a boy or a girl.  So I stamped a carriage and a banner in Coastal Cabana and will simply overlay the pieces and convert the card if it's a boy!

My husband just didn't get it.  He said "Why don't you just make two cards?" I really don't like to make multiples and besides everyone loves a convertible.......

Sweetie Pie! FMS140

Love playing with the new stuff!  I used those funky Sweetie Pie Frames and mixed them up here with Endless Birthday Wishes then used Blendabilities to shade the slanted panel and the rhinestones. When I finished the card I thought it had a Dr. Seuss look to it - slightly askew and a bit wonky - two of my favorite looks! Just a totally fun card!  And here's a real life Sweetie Pie looking a bit wonky in her cow seat (much more fun to say than car seat!) and summer shades!

I am hosting this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  Hope you play along and have fun with my sketch!

The Colors of Summer.....PPA206

The colors at Pals Paper Arts this week are so bright and summery! And our summer has started with a bang -  literally!  I have had lots of questions about yesterday's post (read it here) so I thought I would clear a few things up.

Yes our pontoon boat broke down two days in a row and we drifted along until help arrived - thank Heaven for cell phones!  The throttle has been repaired and we have been assured - again - that all is well. Guess we will find out this weekend.  I will be packing extra food and a cell phone charger....just in case......

And yes lightning struck!  My son was cleaning up around the camp and had started a pile of stuff to go to the dump. A storm blew in and lightning struck that pile - note the charred handle on the shovel. It traveled to the window shattering it and leaving the glass a greeny blue color.  It also blew apart a bag of recyclables. The glass bottles were intact but the cans in the bag look like they were peppered by a shotgun.  The circuit breakers blew and the bedroom TV was fried.  But except for one traumatized dog (poor Silas) all is well - we were lucky!

And as for that Stampin' Up! order......I just closed my eyes when the total popped up and hit submit!

I used Sweetie Pie Frames for the sentiment and to frame that cute little flower in the Hello There hostess set.

Hello There! FMS139

Well hello there!  It has been a busy week as the new Stampin' Up! catalog went live and summer weather arrived - two highly anticipated events in my world.  A bit of advice for you concerning these two seemingly unrelated events:

1.  Bring your SU! catalog along on the first boat ride of the season in case the motor dies and you spend an hour adrift.

2.  Do not leave your SU! catalog on shore when you go back on the boat the next day thinking there will be no time to read because the motor couldn't possibly conk out a second time.

3. Browsing the SU! catalog on your porch during an afternoon thunderstorm is a good idea. Leaving a metal rake and shovel propped up against the front of your camp is not.

4.  No matter how many times you re-add and revise your SU! order from this fabulous new catalog, it will be at least twice your original plan - just go with it!

Don't ask me how I know these things..............

Tag your design at Freshly Made Sketches this week using Rita's fun sketch!  My card features a sentiment from the new Hostess Set Hello There and wonderful background dots from Work of Art.

I used the fab colors at The Card Concept to complete my design!
