Here's hoping that I will be able to look out in the yard soon and see May flowers that all of these April showers have promised to bring!  In the meantime pretty paper flowers will have to do......

The new set from Stampin' Up! is called Attention Shoppers......which reminded me of K- Mart which reminded me of a shopping trip long ago.  We lived in a small town about an hour from any large shopping area so when a new K-Mart was built about 45 minutes away it was big news!  My dad loaded my mom, my aunt, my grandmother and me in the car and away we went to see what the fuss was about.  I honestly don't remember what we bought because it was decades ago but I do remember laughing and chasing a blue light around the store to see what the latest special was.  You never knew where that blue light was going to pop up! I think that was my dad's one and only trip to K-Mart.....he was a Sears Roebuck kind of guy.....whew I am dating myself for sure since those stores are long gone now.....

I lightened the photo a bit so you could see the sparkles in the blue paper - prettier in person for sure!

The sentiment on this card is oh so true! I am a total dog fan and I can't ever remember not having a dog - except for those sad times when I would lose one and then search for another to adopt.  So Shorty - Sheba - Chi Chi - Maggie - Snitty - Pudge - Abby Girl - Pepper - this post is in honor of all of you!

Early Spring Adventure - FMS631

 

Ahhhh.......spring finally! I thought this sweet nest was perfect for a friend who is celebrating a spring birthday soon and expecting a spring baby too! 

The last of the snow is finally gone here and we spent Monday up at the lake having a picnic and waiting for this......

We were fortunate to be in the direct path of the eclipse here in upstate New York.  It truly was an amazing experience.  What surprised me most was how cold it got even when the sun was only partially blocked! Fortunately the sun came out again and life returned to normal!

No flowers blooming here yet but one can always hope.......hope that the expected spring snowstorm on tap tonight and tomorrow is our last for the season!  I am ready for blooms!  So I broke out flowers and bright spring colors for my card today - I'm an optimist!

We were all in egg decorating mode last weekend so after a romp in the snow it was time for hot chocolate and eggs. The kids loved a new coloring spinner thingy (does it have a real name?) I got and made some colorful designs with it.

It was my turn to design the board at Tic Tac Toe this week and I was definitely thinking spring.  I went down the left side of the chart making an egg wreath using spring colors and twine.   Hope you join us!

All of the egg cards that I have been making made me think of chickens.  I remembered this stencil/stamp set I got a while back and thought it would work perfectly with Amy's sketch.  Lots of stenciling and tiny stamping but it was fun to do  - especially since we didn't go anywhere for 24 hours.  After a terrible snow drought this winter we finally got 20 wonderful inches of fluff!  Emma and Will showed up anyway for our planned egg decorating fest but the lure of that snow was too much.  We all had a grand time outside.  The snow was so deep we had to carry it up on the porch for snowman building.....

So am I the only one who thinks up a story when creating a scene card like this one?!?  In my mind that Easter Bunny is hoping the sweet gardener hands over a carrot or two for his lunch - in exchange for a flower or an egg of course!

This card is headed to my cousin who has invited us over for Easter Brunch. My favorite invitation of the year - always a fun event and a great kick off to spring!

Can't you just hear that Momma Bunny telling that little guy to stop fooling around in the egg and come out and help her?  She has a lot of eggs to decorate in the next few weeks!

The inspiration for this card came from a picture taken in a photo booth at the Children's Museum in Rochester last week.  We tried to explain to Will what was going to happen when he and Emma climbed in. I dropped the money in - or I should say put my credit card in because those photo strips are no longer a quarter nor do they take cash - $5.00 - yeow!  Anyway I closed the curtain - Emma barked orders - and the lights flashed.  And out of the strip of four pictures, this one is my favorite....

I would say we got five dollars worth of laughs of that shot!

For someone who doesn't stencil much I sure do have a lot of stencils. So one of my stamping resolutions for this year is to use those stencils!  The Fancy Floral from Gina K is simple, sweet and just perfect for this week's Tic Tac Toe Board.  

Meanwhile an update on the Mush-Room!  Will finally got to see his new room yesterday and was so excited - and he was even more excited when Auntie and Cousin Emma jumped out of the closet - lots of shrieking!

That bunny looks like he has already had a few cupcakes - I can relate! But he is a cutie and the perfect messenger on a birthday card!  I start every year with a vow that I will keep up with birthdays and send cards and in January I did pretty well.  In February I managed to keep up but I wrote most of them on the actual birthday so those cards were a tad late. Have to admit I rarely just sign my name - I always have a few things to say! We are only talking about four cards a month but I can only imagine what will happen in March......

I love this sweet set from Colorado Craft Company - also love how we all just "do our thing" in the craft world - that's what makes it so amazing!

And I promised some pictures of the Mush-Room as we are now calling Will's new bedroom at our camp on the lake.  Not exactly what I would put in my bedroom but Will is doing his own thing in life so mushrooms it is! And yes the red light on the nightstand and green light on the headboard have remotes to change light colors......

No mushrooms for this little mouse - he prefers flowers!

A Retro Hello! FMS623

 

Just a fun way to say hello this Valentine's Day!  When I was young our telephone was similar to this one - big, clunky and black. It sat on a lace doily on its own little table. Those were the days when we read Dick Tracy every Sunday in the comic section of the newspaper.  He kept in touch with the other "good guys" by talking into his wristwatch......and we laughed at such craziness.....little did we know......

I definitely drew inspiration from our living room from so long ago....the clunky phone, stenciled hearts like patterned wallpaper, a touch of lace and a retro look designer paper.
