Tree...Done Simply.......FMS367

Every year I vow to have a sweet simple holiday season.....just like this tree.  And somehow it just always morphs into craziness like this.......

Since Miss E and her parents were returning from a week in Aruba I was in charge of picking up their pups from the kennel. With a leash in each hand and a large utility tote full of toys and blankets over my shoulder I headed out the door.  But as soon as I got to the car an elf tapped me on the shoulder, waved an envelope and said "You can't go yet!  Your daughter paid for a photo session with Santa!'  Of course she did......

Before I knew it I was in a room full of employees dressed like elves, clutching two leashes as Cooper and Benny lunged at dogs coming and going.  Christmas music was playing and all sorts of treats were being handed out.  We finally got in line and only then did I notice the person in front of us had a small horse......for real - not a big dog - a horse.......of course we would be in line behind someone with a miniature pony!  Cooper and Benny just about had heart attacks!  They were beside themselves trying to get up close and personal with that horse.  Thankfully a very helpful elf came to my assistance.  The pony trotted out and we handed the pups to Santa.  The picture says it all.....Cooper is panting from the exertion of trying to get to the pony and Benny looks a bit stunned as if he is trying to figure out what he has just seen.  Me?  I'm off to the side panting from the exertion looking a bit stunned......

Karren's sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches is a classic!  Hope you join us!  The DT call continues another week.

Hahahahaha...that story made me laugh right out loud! Love that you got roped into doing the dog Santa picture. I'm with Benny, I've had that same look on my face several times after pictures with Santa too.

Cute card! Love the sweet tree! :)

I'm trying to figure out how I can score a Santa gig with other people's pets. What a fun story! I love your transition from beautiful, simple card to chaos. The tree is super-sweet. Hope the rest of your Christmas is relaxing and fun. <3

Adorable card....but your saga about getting the pups to see Santa was just what I needed this morning! Reminds me of the time I had to take my parents' Doberman and dachshund to the vets to get shots--never again!
Your pretty little tree is sweet and simple and I love the sentiment!!

oh LInda… the only thing this post is missing is a photo of YOU on the sidelines, panting from exertion!!
I can't write here what I might have said if someone told me I had to take their dogs to see Santa... dedication, that's what that is!!

Your card is absolutely adorable - and btw, my tree looks very much like this one! Come on over... you just might need a toddy.

I love this sweet tree! And I love your story. What is it that makes small dogs utter fools when it comes to investigating larger dogs (and horses)? Where is their sense of self-preservation?

LOL, Linda, I think we all long for the sweet simple Christmas from old fashioned novels. I know I do. I haven't seen one of those since I was a child and no doubt then only because my mother was taking care of all the craziness! But you have a wonderful photo of Santa with the pups and a lovely sweet, simple Christmas card to bring us back to earth! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Christmas!

Somehow I am not surprised that you were in line behind a horse! But good for Benny and Cooper for handling themselves so well! And kudos to you as well! Cute card. I love that style of tree!

Only you could get yourself in this situation!! (Or maybe it's just your fabulous sense of humor vs. the rest of us who would get annoyed and grumpy!) I love your little stick tree - such a classic and just perfect with the simple paper and little sentiment.
