Simple Leaves....FMS418

This image from Beautifully Braided worked perfectly for my Online Card Class homework assignment.  The class - led by Kathy Racoosin -  is about coloring techniques with different types of markers and colored pencils. Choosing Copic markers can be intimidating but Kathy shared this fun tip.  She suggested  the plucking technique - pick three different colored markers - a dark, a medium and a light and don't worry about the numbers.  So I bravely grabbed a dark brown, a medium orange and a light yellow by looking only at the color and not the numbers.  That is the fastest I have ever chosen colors and it all worked on my ginkgo leaves today!  So thanks to Kathy for starting us out with  simple, fun technique!

So many possibilities with Jacquie's wide open sketch this week!  Have fun with it at Freshly Made Sketches!

Stamps: Beautifully Braided
Ink: Memento Black, Copics
Paper: Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Tropical Oasis DSP

Beautiful card! Do you mind me asking how did you get that half circle of stitching? I know it is not SU (at least not currently).

I am SOOO glad I popped by today Linda! Not only do I get to admire your expertly coloured card, but I have learned my one new fact of the day - these are gingko leaves! I have been using this stamp set all week, but had absolutely no idea what these leaves were called. Having now Googled them as I read your post, I think you have also inadvertently answered another of my quandries - why are all the catalogue samples green and yellow! None of my class ladies liked the samples because of the colours, even though they love the set, yet I can see that these are pretty much the only colours they come in in the natural world. On my blog, they are in every colour but these!! Off to enlighten my class ladies via my Facebook page - thanks for making me smarter today!!
